Nissan Cube Review
Pulling out of the New Jersey Nissan dealer I did not yet know what I thought of the Nissan Cube. It’s unique styling made it harder to grasp as a serious vehicle. Luckily, it’s not supposed to be a serious vehicle. In fact, it’s the exact opposite of what you might imagine a serious vehicle to look like. This vehicle is definitely for the young (or young-at-heart) driver that wants a bold vehicle that is both comfortable and extremely fun to drive.
But what is it exactly? I mean its not an SUV and its not a car, so how do you classify such a unique vehicle? The answer: you don’t. This bad boy is a Cube on wheels and is meant to be different from all of the other vehicles on the road today. Sure it may resemble some other models, but there are plenty of things that set the Cube apart from the competition.
Design cues that scream whimsy compliment this vehicle’s practical size and transporting (people or cargo) capabilities. Inside, the ambiance is no different. Abundantly clear was that Nissan’s design team dedicated itself to making headroom clearly abundant. The space from floor to the ceiling is more than 42 inches in the Cube, allowing elevated seating that gives the driver a prominent perch for observing traffic. And if you stare up at the ceiling even for a second, it’s hard to miss the distinct ripple effect making its away across the interior cloth which has been labeled as a “jacuzzi lounge ceiling.”
Tired of the interior lighting? Change the color! You have the option of finding your favorite color scheme and changing it as often (or as little) as you’d like. Also unique about the Cube is the wrap-around window that covers most of the rear of the vehicle. This video gives a great overview of the Nissan Cube:
But what about gas mileage? I talked to my Nissan Dealer in New Jersey to get a better idea and found out that the Cube gets an astounding 29 mpg highway (a feat not generally accomplished by vehicles with so much cargo space.) But the only thing better than the amenities and the superb gas mileage is the starting price. You can pick a Nissan Cube up for right around $14,000. Now that’s a deal that’s actually fun.
