Keeping Your Nissan Safe in Summer
I love summer. Who doesn’t? It’s the time of roller coasters and ice cream cones and swimming pools and road trips. Each and every one of us—even after we move on from the times in our lives where summer is a guaranteed three-month vacation—looks forward to June, July, and August for so many various reasons, not the least of which happens to be an increased opportunity to travel.
For those of us who decide to take our vacations via car trip, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration before taking off. Every NJ pre-owned Nissan dealer will tell you that you can’t just up and go wherever you please; to have a safe trip, you’ve got to prepare yourself for the summer journey. Here’s how you’d go about doing that:
For starters, before any long summer road trip, you need to have your oil and filter changed, even if it isn’t necessarily time for you to do so. As any intelligent driver knows, you’re supposed to get the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Figure out about how many miles you’re going to be driving, subtract that from the number of miles you have left before your next service, and you’ll see that an oil change is probably necessary. It’s healthier for your car on long-distance trips, and it’s better for gas mileage.
Also good for gas mileage, as any used car dealer NJ has to offer will tell you, is driving on tires with appropriate tread. Letting your tires get too bald can affect the number of miles you get out of each gallon of fuel, and with these gas costs every little bit matters. Besides, the last thing you want is to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a tire that popped because you didn’t keep your wheels up-to-date.
Taking care of these few things, as well as generally being safe on the road over those long distances, will help make sure that your summer travels are safe ones. Considering the fact that you’re probably taking your family with you on these excursions, nothing is more important than keeping them as safe as possible. Otherwise, enjoy your summer. Hit up a roller coaster, get some ice cream, and jump head-first into a swimming pool. It’s what this season is all about.
