Nissan granted $1.4 billion loan for electric car plant

February 24, 2010 Featured 1 Comment

Nissan will be granted a $1.4 billion dollar loan by the Department of Energy. The loan will be used by Nissan to create an incredible opportunity for many in the way of an electric car plant right here in the United States. The Smyrna Tenn., facility will be revamped in order to be capable of producing not only 150,00 models of the Nissan Leaf, but the lithium-ion batteries that power it as well.

Hudon Nissan’s used car dealer in NJ, is proud to report the new plant will boost not only Nissan’s image and U.S. production capabilities but will also create 1,300 new jobs for the American public. Nissan has been given an incredible opportunity to involve this country in the automaker’s quest for a practical, completely electric automobile. By developing the cars and their batteries in the U.S. Nissan will hopefully drum up some interest as well as loyalty.

This incredible loan from the DOE propels Nissan as the first foreign-owned automaker to receive a major contract with the current Obama administration. This particular loan was granted by the DOE’s Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing program, whose purpose is to help carmakers create fuel efficient automobiles. Nissan car buyers who purchase from used car dealers in NJ are looking forward to the debut of the Nissan Leaf and believe this grant is a helpful step towards putting truly electric automobiles on roads in the U.S.

The DOE has also loaned money to Ford as well as Tesla to push for more automobiles that use less gasoline. However, Nissan sets itself apart from the rest with their model the Nissan Leaf. While other companies combine gas and electric engines, Nissan retains that their completely electric vehicle will be the top contender of the future.

Nissan is using this loan not to simply put more automobiles on their lots but to help the everyday American in more ways than one. Nissan is both creating an innovative vehicle that will hopefully release the U.S. from our great oil dependency as well employing 1,300 more American citizens. To find out more about everything Nissan from local Newark Nissan oil change options to the new Nissan Leaf visit your local Nissan car dealership.
